Peter Latour is a member of the Dighton-Rehoboth Regional School Committee from Dighton, elected in 2022. Latour is associated with Citizens Organized to Restore Rights (CORR), a New England Christofascist/Christian nationalist formation committed to organizing various unaffiliated groups to support extremist candidates for local seats of government.
While running for election, Latour was endorsed at a CORR meeting by Katie Ferreira-Aubin. Ferreira-Aubin stated, “If [Jeff Reber and Peter Latour] win, we infiltrated that school board…We get the [vaccine and mask] mandates out of schools. We get CRT out of schools. We infiltrate. So they need to win…If General Flynn says that’s how we’re going to take education back, by infiltrating the school boards, we need to listen to him” (CORR, 2022, February 21). Latour was also endorsed by the Dighton Freedom Alliance (Dighton Freedom Alliance, 2022).
Latour has attended multiple CORR meetings and spoke at the February 21, 2022 meeting, saying, “They started really really trampling on us. Now I realize they’ve been doing it a lot longer than that” (CORR, 2022).
Before running for school committee, Latour and his wife Kate had spoken out against mask mandates in the Dighton Public Schools. In an email to school officials, Peter Latour stated, “The disease (or the cure) is spreading throughout the schools” (DeCicco, 2022).
